Whirlpool Duet

Belinda and I had a set of Kenmore Elite washer and dryer combo. The washing machine sounded like the neighbor was pounding on the walls with a sledgehammer when it the spin cycle. So instead of getting it fixed at a cost at $40 an hour (probably a total of $75 with parts), we did the next best thing...Upgrayedd! Two d's for a double dose of pimpin'

Front-loaders are nice, but now that I've had a set for six months, I'm not entirely convinced they're worth the price. That said, I also think that if I had just gotten a conventional top-loading washing machine, I would have regretted not getting the front-loader. C'est la vie.

Regardless, do leave the washer door open when you're not using it. It doesn't have to be open all of the time (I latch it whenever I'm spending some time in the attic) but letting it air out daily really helps prevent buildup of mold and mildew.

Also, if you haven't already, replace your water feed lines. Those things take a serious beating when the washer solenoids kick on or off.
