Texas Inspection FTW!

Just a short list a things that my Jeep has to pass.

1. Horn
2. Windshield Wipers
3. Mirror
4. Steering
5. Seat Belts
6. Brakes (system) (Parking - beginning with 1960 models)
7. Tires
8. Wheel Assembly
9. Exhaust System
10. Exhaust Emission System (beginning with 1968 models)
11. Beam Indicator (beginning with 1948 models)
12. Tail Lamps (2); (1) if 1959 model or earlier
13. Stop Lamps (2); (1) if 1959 model or earlier
14. License Plate Lamp (1)
15. Rear Red Reflectors (2)
16. Turn Signal Lamps (beginning with 1960 models)
17. Head Lamps (2)
18. Motor, Serial, or Vehicle Identification Number
19. 1988 & newer - inspect for window tinting or coating
20. Gas caps on vehicles 2-24 model years old.

The biggest problem that I am having right now is the "Exhaust Emission System" which is an EGR valve for my Offenhauser 360 Intake and Holley Projection. I do not have one and need one for Texas Registration.

Any suggestions?

Duct tape and a kazoo?

It is NOT a toy. It has Holley throttle body. And a Offenhauser intake. But the secret ingredient is love. Dammit.

Apparently your intake eats sailors for breakfast.

I told you this on Gmail chat, but I will say it again. Get yourself a manual for your engine, such as Chiltons or Haynes. In it there should be a diagram of the system. You can figure out what parts you need to complete the EGR system for that engine, and adapt it to the Holley throttle body or a carburator just to get through the inspection. I know, needing to remove your fuel injection and replacing it with a carburator is stupid, but the EPA sucks like that.

As an example, in 2007 on highway diesels hit a new tier of emissions, which required a diesel particulate filter. To overcome the exhuast restriction, the engines increased displacement to make the same power, and fuel economy tanked. Now, we have extremely low emission fuel hogs. Which do you think American society needs more right now, fuel economy or lower particulate?

I thought Haynes only published automotive coloring books.

Here's something else, a Haynes can also be used as a hat.

If you think you can get around the visual inspection with out an egr system i'd say give it a try. you never know if it'll pass by sheer luck.
