House

Belinda and I made a bid on a house. We have gotten to that point were we are tired of paying rent and dealing with slumlords. The housing market has progressed into everyone believing that their property is worth more because Hobbs has a Casino and Horse Race Track and the oil business is booming. Our rent has increased by 60 percent in the last year. Its impossible to find a rent house for less than $600 and less than $1000 for something decent. I know that it doesn't 'seem' expensive, its just that this area is trying to male a quick buck. So as is, our new house will close by September 14.

Jesus. That house costs less than the down payment on a condo here.

Be sure to hire a good inspector--and follow him through every step of the process!

Enjoy home ownership! The work ... never ends.

We have an appointment with an inspector on Saturday. We also gave the copy of the contract to a third party for review.

Sweet. Bring a camera when you go through the inspection--besides being able to negotiate on your house, this is likely the only time you'll ever get a professional to go through every part of the house to evaluate everything. If something needs to be fixed, he'll find it.

Definitely follow him into the crawlspace/attic, if necessary.

Do you guys have an agent? I'd imagine they'd be able to review the purchase contract--those things are really boilerplate.
